This year, the Gujral Foundation collaborates with CEPT University by committing to five years of programming including three main events led by the Foundation. Our vision is to provide a platform that enables innovation and encourages cutting edge experimental practices within the field. We are delighted to collaborate with the University and look forward to presenting many exciting programmes over the next few years.

First, there will be the CEPT Gujral Foundation Excellence Award, a cash award of rupees one lakh each, awarded to six students annually for studio excellence. The jury panel for 2019’s award consisted of eminent industry leaders: Bobby Desai (architect and chair of the jury panel); Walter de Souza (artist); Archana Shah (textile designer and entrepreneur) and Dinesh Sharma (product designer). The first 3 awardees were announced in the beginning of August 2019.

In September, the foundation inaugurated the first of several installations and workshops by leading contemporary artists and architects at the CEPT University campus.The artworks presented this semester by contemporary artist Ayesha Singh and reD architects were interactive and questioned and generated dialogue on campus around art and architecture, specifically public spaces, the notions of time, space, history and identity.

Lastly, the Foundation will host an exciting programme on the university’s annual Summer Winter School Programmes, inviting renowned guest faculty from India and around the world. This year, Suchi Reddy, New York based architect and founding principal of Reddymade will design and lead “Feeling for the future: Sensory Architecture” a course for advanced students and professionals that will examine architecture viewed through a sensory lens as defined in our personal spaces, communal arrangements, landscapes and urban environments from the historical to the present.
